Welcome back to the May Edition of the SMS SRO Newsletter!

Online Safety

Are you starting to sense a theme here? Yes, I have a lot to say about online issues. Please, please, please check your kid’s phones! These things are causing way more trouble than they are worth, and I don’t want your kids getting in trouble over some nonsense. A lot of the issues in school arise for cell phone use. Students are using Snapchat, Tik Tok ect. spreading rumors harassing each other.

Online Monitoring

Some of the biggest pushback I’ve seen about monitoring kids online is from parents who tell me “I’ve got an app for that”. They tell me their apps can monitor what sites their kids visit, what apps they can download, and what times they can use their device. Sounds pretty great, right?

In theory, it would be great! Unfortunately, there are ways around just about all the common monitoring devices and apps out there. A quick search on Google and Youtube and I was able to find 7 different ways kids are getting around these apps! I’ve had kids sit in my office and tell me some of them! For every piece of technology out there, something else will come out to circumvent it. Nothing is 100 percent safe. Nothing will take the place of you physically and consistently checking in with your kid and looking at their phone. If anyone needs more information on this, feel free to reach out to me anytime.

Join us for a Safe Celebration. We would love to see you!

If at all possible could you add the Flyer to the page.
